I'm so glad you liked my novel, Alice! That's exactly the slant I was aiming for with this one: I started with the transformation concept and worked forwards and backwards from there. It's said that an author takes a character s/he loves and then subjects them to terrible things. Guilty as charged... but I still love Matilda Hale.
