It's like a standalone right?
Hi Reading Stray. This is Peter, the author here. The main book "Battle Mage" is a standalone story that can be read in its own right. Battle Mage: Aquila, on the other hand, is a prequel to the main book and I definitely recommend reading the main book first.
Battle Mage was originally written as a standalone, but over the years I've had LOTS of requests for a sequel. However, as I was developing the ideas I decided that the sequel would be much stronger if I set it up properly with a prequel. An unconventional approach, I agree, but I think it will work.
So, Aquila is a prequel to Battle Mage, and the next book will be a sequel to both of these books. The sequel will carry on directly from where Battle Mage ended. Hope that answers your question :)
