That is my thought process as well since i'm in mid 50's and have older sibs and my parents were alive for all of Padre Pio's ordained life, idk why between them and 14 years of Catholic School i never learned about this charasmatic healer, intercessor and saint, however, better late than never, 'Viva Padre Pio' as we told the other Friars heard...excellent work, both volumes of this book

I think he was viewed with skepticism by the higher authorities within the church who didn't like all of the attention he drew (the large crowds, etc) and perhaps saw him as being too "mystical." My own introduction to him was quite mystical and I was delighted to learn about him.
