My annotations said the same thing; it's really easy to say "disregard testing" when your content area (i.e. social studies) isn't the one being tested and it's ultimately not your job on the line. Thankfully, not all educators see it that way. At my school we're very fortunate to have our science and social studies teams help teaching reading informational texts and writing compare and contrast essays (the bulk of our state's testing material).
I agree. But with social studies not really being a tested subject, it’s easier to do this in social studies, rather than math or ELA.
