Donald Robertson Thanks for your review. Where I attribute views from a character in one of Plato's dialogues to another historical individual, I've noted the reason in the endnotes, and cited scholarly research in support of the decision. For example, I do attribute the words of Diotima to Aspasia, but follow classicists who have argued that it's likely Plato was referring to Aspasia under another name.

You and I agree on the supreme importance of critical thinking in human thought and action. Your analysis of the failures of critical thinking in Athenian history is superb.
