t's always a good sign when a book overcomes a slightly rocky start and turns into a captivating read! Glad to hear this one found its footing and grabbed you, JJ.

Thanks Taufiq! 💙 It really was a great read and I'm excited for the rest of the series!

It's a great read! 💙 The secondary romance is a really small part of the story - only a few cute moments between the characters. The main romance has more depth and development though.

Thanks Donne! 💙 The narrator can really make a big difference!
Thanks to the Libro.fm ALC program, I was able to take-in the audio book version of this fantasy. But unlike other Goodreads reviewers, I did not enjoy the narration. The fantasy world is not England, so why were various English accents employed? Why does the narrator pronounce the G in such words as ring, walking, song with a hard sound? This proved extremely distracting.
I give the novel a 3.5 for clever world building. Some of these characters seem childish especially when you realize that they are presented as adults.
Just when I want to take the world seriously, something unexpectedly comical happens. I suspect the novel has been written for readers between ages 16-25. And I am much older than that which might explain some of my reservations here.

That's fair, David, I'm glad you still enjoyed it though. 💙 Maybe it's because I'm English, but I just loved the accents, variety and emotions in the narration. The characters also seemed realistic to me as I am close to the target audience
