I think her writing is horrific. She makes the FMC’s so feeble and weak, which we are not. And the “twists” are usually painfully obvious (I gave up after a few of her books so I can’t say that for all of them) absolute cringe! I don’t trust anyone that recommends her 😂
I gave it three for the same reason. I was able to read this book in a day and was “entertained” but definitely think the writing was not great. It’s only gotten worse from there.
I thought that for a person that was in jail for 10 years she learnt absolutely nothing!! I agree zero survival skills. And I agree with your cat, must be a smart cat lol... Awful book... Thank God I got it from the library ...
Good to see so many people echoing the thoughts I had when I read this ! The writing was very shallow. The first half was somewhat Ok because of the intriguing events, but once the so called twist is revealed, all the prior events were irrelevant and the subsequent ones totally lack essence.
I started to read this book but stopped after a few chapters. I definitely don't want to waste my time on poorly written books, and this was terrible. What a load of crap!
I totally agree with you. What IS the hype?
.
I’m listening to the audiobook and the beginning was promising but I’m almost halfway and it’s awful. It seems also that I haven’t reached the bad part 😂
Right? Did we all read the same book? I bought it because as I picked it up a woman walking by stopped and was effusive about how great it was, how she envied me reading it "for the first time". I regret having given it 100 pages of my time. DNF.
Thanks for the review, Emily. I haven't read it yet, but the word "shockingly" used in your review kind of makes me want to read this even more.
I mean, look at the author. Her track record isn't consistent for the most part. She's writes overall bad books.
It seriously was so bad. Millie speaking Spanish to the gardener multiple times because he couldn’t speak English was CRINGE. There were actually multiple times in the book where things were said or done in poor taste. I’m shocked this book has been hyped up so much.
At least some one is saying it 😭 i could hardly get through this book it was so cringe and predictable
I signed up to goodreads just to give this book one star. I am astonished by the ratings and success.
😆 Millie is so dumb! In every possible way, I couldn’t relate at all. Kept rolling my eyes! 1 star for me too
