message 1: by Chanda (new)

Chanda I think her writing is horrific. She makes the FMC’s so feeble and weak, which we are not. And the “twists” are usually painfully obvious (I gave up after a few of her books so I can’t say that for all of them) absolute cringe! I don’t trust anyone that recommends her 😂

message 2: by Andrea (new)

Andrea I gave it three for the same reason. I was able to read this book in a day and was “entertained” but definitely think the writing was not great. It’s only gotten worse from there.

message 3: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Parris Genuinely shocked that the author is a physician and this is the way she writes 😅

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel G Read The Last Mrs. Parrish! It’s the book Freida ripped off only Liv’s version is 100x better.

message 5: by Sami (new)

Sami I agree with you. The main character also had 0 survival skills. Was an annoying read.

message 6: by Rabia (new)

Rabia i heard the second book is so much better

message 7: by Vicky (new)

Vicky I thought that for a person that was in jail for 10 years she learnt absolutely nothing!! I agree zero survival skills. And I agree with your cat, must be a smart cat lol... Awful book... Thank God I got it from the library ...

message 8: by Karthikeyan (new)

Karthikeyan S Good to see so many people echoing the thoughts I had when I read this ! The writing was very shallow. The first half was somewhat Ok because of the intriguing events, but once the so called twist is revealed, all the prior events were irrelevant and the subsequent ones totally lack essence.

message 9: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I thought it was the french translation who was really Bad, looks like its not...

message 10: by Andri (new)

Andri Matos Sooo awful. No carácter development. Stupid twists.

message 11: by Marylu (new)

Marylu VO I feel so seen by this review lol horrible literature

message 12: by Bea (new)

Bea I started to read this book but stopped after a few chapters. I definitely don't want to waste my time on poorly written books, and this was terrible. What a load of crap!
I totally agree with you. What IS the hype?

.

message 13: by Ani (new)

Ani Thank u, I feel so validated

message 14: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Agreed! Why are so many people rating it so highly?? This was so bad.

message 15: by Emah (new)

Emah Bolivard LMAO I am thinking this while reading 😭😭😭😭😭

message 16: by JP (new)

JP Thank you!

message 17: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra I’m listening to the audiobook and the beginning was promising but I’m almost halfway and it’s awful. It seems also that I haven’t reached the bad part 😂

message 18: by Pearl (new)

Pearl Zambory Right? Did we all read the same book? I bought it because as I picked it up a woman walking by stopped and was effusive about how great it was, how she envied me reading it "for the first time". I regret having given it 100 pages of my time. DNF.

message 19: by Roqya (new)

Roqya Alfayadh Right !
The book was badly written and the storyline was just a no for me .

message 20: by Scott (new)

Scott Rhee Thanks for the review, Emily. I haven't read it yet, but the word "shockingly" used in your review kind of makes me want to read this even more.

message 21: by laurakellylitfit (new)

laurakellylitfit I mean, look at the author. Her track record isn't consistent for the most part. She's writes overall bad books.

message 22: by Janice (new)

Janice It seriously was so bad. Millie speaking Spanish to the gardener multiple times because he couldn’t speak English was CRINGE. There were actually multiple times in the book where things were said or done in poor taste. I’m shocked this book has been hyped up so much.

message 23: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Hull I am so glad to not be alone out here…I thought the writing was rudimentary at best.

message 24: by Joy (new)

Joy Kirr SAME!!!

message 25: by Bannie (new)

Bannie At least some one is saying it 😭 i could hardly get through this book it was so cringe and predictable

message 26: by Eugenia (new)

Eugenia Dalla Zero stars for me

message 27: by Libby (new)

Libby I agree it was not a good it was boring

message 28: by Reader (new)

Reader I signed up to goodreads just to give this book one star. I am astonished by the ratings and success.

message 29: by Laura (new)

Laura Franco 😆 Millie is so dumb! In every possible way, I couldn’t relate at all. Kept rolling my eyes! 1 star for me too

message 30: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Briede I honestly wondered if I was reading the wrong book based on the Goodreads rating. This was AWFUL. The way the author fat shamed Nina throughout the entire thing, it’s disgusting.
