Ashley Miller Totally get that not every book works for everyone. Since you only made it to page 51, I wonder if the story just didn’t have time to hit its stride—Echoes of Us really leans into themes of grief, healing, and second chances as it unfolds. I really enjoyed the story itself and how real and raw it feels. Since the book wasn’t finished, I do wish readers would consider holding off on rating it. A 1-star review can significantly impact a newly independent author, especially when the full story hasn’t been experienced.

Laurence First of all - I did state that in my review. Second of all, I get that a book is a lot about the story, but for me, it’s also about the writing. And I just really struggled with this style of writing. Reviews are meant to guide others, and can be very deceiving if only the good ones are posted. I truly appreciate authors putting themselves out there and giving it a go. Reviews are opinions, and just because I could not get into it doesn’t mean the book is bad. The one star is my experience with it. And nothing else. I rated books 5 stars that my friends rated 1 or 2. I don’t go back and argue with them. It’s their experience with that specific book, and I just respect that.

Aaron McLean Thank you for taking the time to read and leave review—I truly appreciate it. I’m sorry the book didn’t connect with you, but I completely respect that not every story or style works for everyone.

Negative reviews are part of the process, and I value them. They help me grow as a writer and give insight into how I can improve and better connect with readers. And I agree—if a book only had glowing reviews, as a reader, I'd raise an eyebrow.

I appreciate your honesty and the fact that you gave it a shot. Wishing you nothing but great reads ahead.
