Lily I think the first book I remember actually reading (not just pretend reading lol) was in first grade and it was about apples! I don't remember the title of it, though.

EllieJellyBean :D I remember telling my older sister that I could read chapter books, and to prove it, I pretended to read a book called Runt!😄

message 3: by Kacie (new)

Kacie first thing I thought of was Apples up on top XD

I think the first book I remember reading by myself was Magic Treehouse: Dolphins at Dusk

😂😂😂 I don't even think I was capable of reading Dr. Seuss at that time. I loved Magic Tree House, though! Unlike you, though, I read the first book first 😂😉

˚༚✧˳⁺⁎davm⁎⁺˳✧༚˚ The book that turned me into a bookworm was The Magician’s Nephew (prequel of the chronicles of Narnia) 😁

message 8: by Edna (new)

Edna Pellen I think it would be "The Velveteen Rabbit," but I'm not positive.
If we're talking about novels, it would probably be "The Secret of the Old Clock" Nancy Drew novel by Caroline Keene.

message 21: by Carina (new)

Carina Shephard The book version of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. I got it for my birthday (not sure how old I was) and I remember trying to read it out loud and asking my siblings about the words I didn’t know.

Ella あいみ M. Is this, like, novels? Because if it's books like Green Eggs and Ham, then I have no idea because I was always reading something and don't remember which was first. (It was some "I Can Read!" book, though.)

If it's actual chaper books/novels, then I'm pretty sure it was one of the Chronicles of Narnia. But I also remember Heidi being one of the first, and I was so proud that I went through it "all by myself." (Then my dad assigned me to write a book review of it, and I regretted telling everyone I read it.)

message 23: by Cindy (new)

Cindy aka "The Book Fairy" A first I remember being read was " The Gingerbread Man" ! ;)

Haha, I relate to that feeling with Heidi! I rmbr reading Jane Austen's Emma when I first picked up reading, and I was soooo proud of finishing it, even though I literally had no idea what was going on and had to rely on my memory of the TV series scenes to keep track. 😳

One of my first memory with books was the Jane and Peter series!! 😂 I loved them. XD But for a novel, I read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when I was eight... I hated reading then, and I only agreed to read that book when my dad bargained with me to award me $5 if I finished it. :p He never let that happen again, though. No matter how hard I tried to ask, hahaha.

Haha that's amazing!!! Because I bet if he'd made a deal that every book you read = $5 then you'd be soo rich and he would be broke xD
