Format: Kindle ebook would be best, but I can access PDFs.
I don't read a lot of historical fiction, but I'm willing to give it a shot, as I understand a lot of Christian authors write in the genre. I'm rather critical when it comes to historical inaccuracies, but I never read a book simply because I intend to pull it to shreds in a scathing review once I'm done. If I don't like a book I will be very polite. I know writing is hard. I have my preferred genres, but I will read anything if it is well written. I don't read much poetry, but I don't mind poems, and have several that are near and dear to my heart. I greatly prefer a rhyming poem to a free form poem.

Hi all! I'm Kate. ;) I write MG/YA fiction for Christian readers and love reading as well. Genres I Read Often: Historical Fiction, Light Fantasy, Western, Sci-fi, MG... most anything if it's God-honoring. I'm not super genre tied.
Genres I Will Not Read: Suspense, Thriller, Horror, Errotica, and I'm not a huge fan of poetry but it's okay.
Things I Will Tolerate: Non-graphic violence, light magic (really depends, though), and romance only as far as mild kissing/hand-holding/hugging in the right context. (I can tend to wax long on my standards, so here's a link to my blog that explains them better. https://onceuponanordinary.wordpress....)
Pet Peeves: feminism, neglectful or overly permissive parents, graphic violence, and cussing. (Sorry, that's four.) ;)
Hi, I'm Kellyn! You can call me Kell. Or ... Miss Roth if you're feeling formal. ;)Genres I Read Often: historical fiction, Christian fiction, romance, Christian historical romance, young adult fiction, some contemporary fiction, fantasy (not a fan of high/epic). I'll read almost any genre as long as it's reasonably clean and not depressing. I hate books that make me sad.
Genres I Do Not Read Often: nonfiction, dystopian (will occasionally read ... but they're always so dark!), high/epic fantasy (I'll occasionally read some, though), horror, paranormal, poetry, erotica.
Things I Will Tolerate: violence, mild sexual content (detailed-ish kisses, etc. ... no actual scenes permitted though!), some mature themes (childbirth, divorce, etc.) as long as they're handled delicately. You might want to go to my book blog to get a better idea about what my standards are (you can actually submit a form under "review policy" now!).
Pet Peeves: love triangles, cussing, depressing topics (also I like a good dash of drama ... or melodrama!).
Kellyn wrote: "Hi, I'm Kellyn! You can call me Kell. Or ... Miss Roth if you're feeling formal. ;)Genres I Read Often: historical fiction, Christian fiction, romance, Christian historical romance, young adult f..."
Ugh, yes, I forgot about love triangles!! That drives me nuts!

Same here!!
Hi, my name is Alicia :)Genres I read often: Christian fiction, historical (fiction and non-fiction), classics, fantasy, young-adult fiction, mystery/suspense, romance (if clean)
Genres I do not read often/never: sci-fi, horror, poetry, erotica, and only occasionally dystopian
Things I will tolerate:
- violence (if not too graphic or if it's someone describing a personal experience during a war or such)
- mild swearing
- kissing/hugging
Pet peeves
- overly cheesy romance lines (I love a good romance, but not if it makes me cringe)
- stories where the whole plot could have been resolved in two chapters if only the main characters talked to each other
- main characters that have no backbone whatsoever
Hi, I'm Felicity! :-)
Genres I read often: Historical, biographies, OLD romance (like, Austen, Dickens, Gaskell etc.), christian theology.
Genres I don't read often (or never): Horror, erotica, heavy mystery, post-modern fiction, fantasy, poetry, paranormal.
Things I tolerate: Kissing, hugging, references to sexual act (not graphic!), a tiny bit of violence, swearing.
Pet peeves: Character or narrator blaspheming God or christianity, romance that is too cheesy and makes me cringe, aka YOUNG ADULT ROMANCES, post-modern literature, depressive story/writing-style.
Format: Hardcover, Paperback

That's fine. I said "at least three" pet peeves, if you have more that really bug you, go ahead and list them.

Thanks. ;) I agree with most everyone here's pet peeves. ;)
Hi I'm Jack,Genres I Read Often: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Sci-fi
Genres I Do Not Read Often: Romance (though I have beta read for a cozy murder mystery) and Westerns (with a few Louis L'Amour exceptions)
Things I Will Tolerate I'm open to a lot as long as it stays true to the character & the character is well thought out.
Pet Peeves
Unrealistic settings! For example, taking a 100 man deep keel ship right up to the beach and walking off. That takes me right out of it!
Uninteresting characters! How many times does the poor orphan stumble onto a magic sword and ends up ruling the world by the end of the novel? Really?!
Stories with no clear conclusion I read a story just recently where the main character boards an airplane with people she hardly knows and the book ends with no clear conclusion or upcoming obstacle. (No way I'm going to buy the next one.)
UPDATE: Would everyone please add what format you prefer to read to your resume. Most of the authors here can only offer PDFs, but some offer ebooks, audiobooks and other formats as well. There are certain formats some poeple cannot access, so please go ahead and mention which formats don't work for you. Thanks!
Hi, I'm Bookworm, AKA Naomi! Thanks Bethany, for inviting me :)Genres I read often: historical fiction, classic, mystery, christian romance, adventure..a little western, but not a lot.
Genres I don't read often (or Ever): horror, sci fi, dystopian.
Things I will Tolerate: even though I believe couples shouldn't kiss till they're married, I will read books where they kiss. Some violence-just not gore. Look at my book list if you have any questions, or message me.:)
Things I will Not Tolerate: sexual content, very bad and/or prolific swearing, gore and unnecessary descriptions concerning such things.
Pet Peeves: Corny romance lines ditto, characters with no character, the untalkative couples that cause the whole issue because they won't communicate!, girls that absolutely perfect and stunningly beautiful, or made smarter than the guy who acts like the class clown, and historical fiction where people of lower rank are described as much slower or stupid, just because they don't have money and work.
The best way for me to read something is to have an actual book, or a pdf file sent to my email, since I don't own a Nook :s
Hey-o all.I'm Jane Maree, an adventurer, reader, writer, and weapon hoarder.
Genres I like: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Adventure, Christian fiction, and probably a bunch of others I've forgotten. (all YA stuff, not Adult)
Genres not-so-much: Horror, romance...that's all I can think of.
Things I don't mind: Violence, a reasonable amount of blood-and-guts, slight romance (no further than a kiss or something)
Things I don't like: No in depth romance and sexual stuff, no swearing, paragraphs that go on too long, long descriptions that put my hyperactive brain to sleep. ;)
Pet Peeves: Basically all the massively over-used clichés. Some are good if done well, but others...not so much.
Format: An actual physical copy of the book (unlikely though since I'm Australian), or pdf/word doc via email, or epub/ebooks at a pinch.
So cool to be in this group! :D
Hey, I'm Emilia. Genres I read often: I love almost all genres, but my favorites are Fantasy, Poetry, and Historical Fiction.
Genres I do not read often: I do not read Horror.
Will tolerate but dislike: Violence and romance.
Will not tolerate: Swearing
Pet peeves: Overused cliché plots or characters.
Format: I prefer book form, but I love Kindle ebooks and I can do PDFs.
I am a writer, but I have no published work. I'm also a little behind on this group, but I'm very excited! :)

-Bible verses taken out of context
-Overly young or wise heroes and heroines
-Storylines that are too rushed

So here is a bit more about me that will help you know if I’m the one you would like reviewing your book. I read all the time, usually two –three books a week. I love talking and writing about the books I enjoy. I also go out of my way to find books for friends and family that I think they will like. My reviews can be found on Goodreads, Pintrest, Amazon, and in a private online book-club.
I am a very conservative Evangelical Christian. So here are more details on what I would read.
Unless a Romance is in the same vein as Ivanhoe, Pride and Prejudice, or Tale of Two Cities, I won’t enjoy it and probably won’t finish it. If it’s a mystery, I don’t demand absolute realism, but a dash a reality is always nice. Some mature content if handled with Victorian delicacy. Theology or Doctrine is incredibly important to me. If that is discussed in a book, I do my best to compare it to the Bible. It will be mentioned in my review as well if it doesn’t meet my standards. I love Medieval stories, but not if they have magic in them. I tolerate very little magic, or few ghosts, in any book. If they are central to the plot, I’m likely to quit unless I think they will turn out to have a natural explanation.
Oh yes, if you writing a historical novel, please, please use archaic words. A broad vocabulary will go a long way with helping me love any book.
I'll try to be kind, but I do tend to more of a critic type review. Please, keep in mind I tend to be more critical of Christian fiction than Secular Fiction. If you would like to know more please go to my page and read some of what I have written, or message me.
I really can’t think of anything more. That pretty much covers the basics of what I love and hate in a book.
Hello, I'm Abi! Jesseca invited me to be a part of this group, but I've yet to participate much.Genres I Read Often: Classics, Historical Fiction, Dystopian, Poetry, Fiction, Drama, Allegory, Philosophy
Genres I Do Not Read Often: Sci-fi, Horror, Biography, Mystery, Western, Short Story, Romance, Comics, Manga
Things I Will Tolerate
-Violence
-Romance, if not graphic (in or out of marriage)
-Mild swearing (it has to feel called for and not be vulgar)
Pet Peeves
-The "I'm a nobody who can't do anything" character (usually female) who proceeds to save the world. (I have found a few exceptions.)
-Bible verses and preachy dialogue that does not fit the story
-Dialogue that's written as it sounds
-Parents who are irrelevant and useless to a storyline
-Cliche plots and stereotyped characters
-Overly emotional characters who seem to be touched or terrified by everything
-Characters who are portrayed as different or an oddball, but remain a stereotype
-The female character who wants to do everything a man can do in an era where that's not even socially acceptable.
-Feminism in general, whether in dominant women, overly dominant men, or weak men
-Excusing or justifying wickedness unnecessarily
Format: I would be accessing anything through e-mail. So Google Docs, Kindle ebook, or Word are preferable. I can work with PDF (and anything else PC friendly) if internal commentary is not required.
I have read and enjoyed stories from all genres, even if they are not ones I frequently visit. I prefer stories that have strong themes or stances on things such as truth, the nature of humanity, the cause of suffering and the like (even if the stance is not necessarily Biblical). I will read romance and horror and the like if it is well done, clean, and has a plot that exists around the genre itself. Strong characters with unique and identifiable traits and logical circumstances moving them forward are preferable.
I am currently unavailable to review or share any works of mine for reviewing, as I am working toward my first publication. I hope to be able to jump in more fully around the new year! :)
Hello to all. I"m Nathan and I'm an author, and when time permits, a reader. I write Christian Crime Fiction. My first published novel, Written in Blood from the series The Foley Chronicles: Files from the 8th District is available through Createspace.com and Amazon.Written in Blood is about a rookie homicide detective named Kennedy Collins who is struggling with personal mental and physical issues that arise from his dad's recurring illness, all while working to solve a serial case where prostitutes are being murdered. Throw in a budding relationship with a beautiful woman, a partner who's determined for him to find God, and you just may have something worth reading ;)
There's a 12 chapter preview for your perusal, if you'd like to, at Written in Blood
Thanks for your time, sorry to ramble for so long :)

Hello! I'm Jennie. I read a lot, especially because I work in a bookstore. I am not much into sappy romances-just not my thing... No Horror either, generally. However, I like many different genres, if they are well-written. I have to admit that since I read so much, I am kind of picky. Too many books, too little time to waste on cheesy books, or gruesome books, or books where I can tell what the character will say next. :) Anyhow, I do like a good Christian fantasy, mystery, historical, biography, sci-fi, non fiction, ya, etc.
I can do Kindle ebook, or pdf.
Hello All.My name is Tyrone, and I am the author of God's Redemptive Plan For Young Adults and High School Students, which was published in May 2016. I am a Christian, and a Sunday school teacher at my church in Maryland. I taught high school students for about 12 years before moving on to the young adult class. The one thing I found consistent throughout both groups was the lack of knowledge concerning all the things God did to endure man's redemption, and about what the future holds. Prompted by many questions about the latter (especially), I felt led to write the story.
From a personal standpoint, my faith has increased tremendously from understanding the whole story, and I believe others will too. As I explained to my class, it's like seeing a movie from the beginning (Old Testament) as opposed to the middle (New Testament). It's much easier to "connect the dots" once you understand the relevant stories, prophecies, etc.
I've done the giveaway on this website, but will provide one copy to a member of this group who is truly interested in this topic. It is a more educational in approach, but also inspirational (at least according to the one written review received so far from a giveaway winner).
As a reader, I like Christian-themed books, crime drama, mysteries, and some science fiction. I can tolerate some "bad language", as long as it's not excessive. No descriptive or gratuitous sex scenes or related conversations.
God Bless!

I'm Raevyn. First of all, I prefer to read unpublished works through sites like Goodreads and Figment rather than physical or digital published works--it's just my way of keeping my TBR low!
I read a lot of dystopian fiction and unique books in general.
I won't read: Anything I feel has been done before in some way (sorry, I'm picky), erotica, sports stories.
I can tolerate/I don't mind: Some swearing, magic and fantasy, some violence, heavy themes--in fact, I seek out books that are deep and dark!
I won't tolerate: Religious magic (Wicca), really graphic violence, ableist plot lines (a story in which the disabled character is magically cured--I hate that!)

Hi, I'm CutePolarBear! (not my real name :D) I would love to read and review others' books, although I don't have a Kindle or other reading device. (Is that necessary? I don't know; I've never done such things) I enjoy most any Christian fiction, but mainly romance and historical fiction. I will read any historical fiction, as long as there aren't an abundance of swear words or explicit content. I have a much narrower preference for romance, however. If the author does not have a Christian worldview, I probably wouldn't want to read it.
Hi, everyone! Thanks for the invite! I'm Esther Filbrun, something of an eccentric writer, sister, book-gobbler, and baker (not necessarily all at once, although sometimes it has happened). I live in New Zealand with my parents, five wonderful brothers, and a cute little sister. One of my main hobbies (obviously) is reading books, and I host a website where my mom and I review books in the hopes that parents will be able to find clean reads for their children. You can find me at Learning Resource Directory.
My very favorite genres include: Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction, Old Classics, Biographies/Autobiographies, Fantasy, and sometimes a little Science Fiction or Mystery (as long as they are clean and not meant to be crossed with horror--I don't get along with that!)
Genres I don't appreciate so much are: Romance (although this really depends on the content...see below), Dystopian, Futuristic, and Horror.
Things I tolerate:
- Mild violence
- Kissing/hugging (but never beyond this--bedroom scenes are definitely a no-no)
- Magic
I do not appreciate swearing, although I understand it in certain circumstances. I try to be very careful what kind of romance I read, since I don't like a lot of mainstream romance books (this is one reason why I really appreciate Chautona Havig's books!).
I have a lot of pet peeves in reading. My main ones, though, would be:
- Bad book editing. If it's very bad, it could affect how I perceive books, although I try to ignore it--but I'm happy to keep track of the mistakes I find and send them back to you!
- Children who do not respect authorities
- Unnecessary language
I read Kindle ebooks best (.mobi files, generally), but PDFs work, too, through Kindle conversion. One author I read for frequently sends me Word documents, though--I can send that to my Kindle, then use track changes to send my edits back to her before reviewing the book.
Thanks again for setting up this group!
