Haha! "Not enough pickling" might be the best piece of crictism I've received. Love it.
I do write with a fast-paced style, which is deliberate. It's what I enjoy, but I know it's not for everyone. With that said, if I wrote this again, I would pace it a little slower. I'd definitely add some extra chapters to the final third of the novel to let it breathe.
