Thanks for reading, Emily!
I agree, Emily. There was a lot of speculation; however, to me, it required discernment. Upon meditation, I found it to be challenging my ideas about how I’d always ASSUMED God to be. Speculation through most of the book was tough, but in the end, I feel like it challenged me to see the Bible and these characters as an actual story with detail rather than “just sayeth the Lord” with a stern look on Jesus’s face. To me, this book gave both Peter and Jesus warmth, humanity, and depth. I agree that it’s simply speculation and no doctrine should be based off of it, but in a way, I appreciated the challenge to see Peter and Jesus in a way I’d never thought of before.
