I'm A. F. Stewart, and I have two published poetry books, Tears of Poetry and Shadows of Poetry:Shadows of Poetry is a collection of introspective poetry that skirts the darker side of life and imagination. Verses include forlorn musings on nature, a harsher glimpse at life and a grim view of fantasy and myth.
Wanted: Readers of the grim, the sorrowful, and unhappy endings.
Poetry written for the blackness in your soul.
Wrenching, dismal, bleak verse for those who want to walk on the dark side.
No sappy, cheerful love poems allowed.
Tears of Poetry is a compilation of free verse inspired by interests in history, Celtic culture and mythology. The poetry is introspective, dark, moody and reflective.
Wendy Brown-Báez, author of Ceremonies of the Spirit, is renowned for her signature style as a performance poet; she takes you into her vibrant, colorful world with sensual imagery, elegant rhythms and poignant stories. Ceremonies of the Spirit (Plain View Press 2009) is a collection of love poems that travels a spiral from infatuation to consecration. Ceremonies has been called "gorgeous", "exquisite", "flirty", and "joyous work that should be celebrated.” In 2004, Wendy released her poetry CD Longing for Home and since then, has performed poetry nationally, and in Mexico, in unique venues such as cafes, bars, galleries, schools, women’s retreats, parking lots, and cultural centers, solo and in collaborations.
“Here are poems that are living, breathing things; that invite us into them, welcome us into their elegant, ethereal dance, and walk us across the threshold into sanctuary where we look inward, feed the soul's spark, commune with enlightenment, and transform. Wendy Brown-Baez creates beautiful work in this collection.” --Michael Parker, reviewer for Oranges & Sardines, summer 2009
“That’s what Wendy does, she connects us with words and wraps us in the safety of a shawl so we can fall in love with poetry once again.”--Gary Glazner, Founder of the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project

Hey, I'm Lena and the book 'Quills' of Fire' written with Marilyn Campiz is available!
Lena Vanelslander
Quills of Fire was an act of creation, and a challenge to the creative process by simply asking what we could create and come up with by using only one word a day, alternating the selection between the writers and giving only 24 hours to come up with our work. Using this process involved a great deal of setting aside the ego and just really getting to the heart of what we wanted to strive to attain. To write through periods of emotional blockage, raw emotion, and sift through it all to come up with what we determined could get out there to touch others lives. The original image for the cover, as far as our conceptualized ideal was to use a phoenix rising out of its ashes. However that idea was nixed since the cover presented didn't please the writers. Instead, a winged messenger without arms was used; the image of a statue located in Daegu, South Korea. The impact of this project was to realize a dream for the talents of Lena and Marilyn. Despite the time differences, the challenges of creation, and personal life events, this work came into its own reality; taking on a life of its own because two women believed.
A creation out of two minds, a duet of perspectives…enjoy the different tastes, angles, and writings. Words are the keys to our quills; words mean a lot to us and invoke images, even beyond the pen. Let this mosaic of opinions, experiences, perspectives, and themes penetrate and resonate your body, soul, spirit, and mind. Two women, separated in space, time, life experience, and more…Where thoughts converge and diverge, over the boundaries of a lifetime past and a lifetime ahead. Where visions and ideas are expressed, so deviant for this era and yet so typical in every aspect. Let the different colours of this mosaic enchant you… to find more than what normally can be said. Beyond what has been said before, these two authors do not cringe to speak their mind on love, jealousy, death, relationships, and the darkness life can bring. Let them be a voice to you, narrating the spirit of the twenty-first century…Where minds evolve but taboos remain firmly in place. Let the colours marvel your mind and sway you beyond society's norms and values: we present you Quills of Fire.

G'day Steven, I'm a rhyming poet, writing Australian bush poetry, war related poetry & what I call general poetry, I have also been writing sonnets as in late November for the 1st time in my life I read Shakespeare's sonets, then googled how to & what is a sonnet & started writing them, here is a sample, an Aussie bush poem in sonnet form.
Sonnet no.3
Snowy Mountain Blood
He views the brumbies fleeing down the hill
while now he’s chasing, closing at great pace.
And knowing that one slip out here could kill,
he can’t afford a tumble or lose face.
The cracking stockwhip sounded as he cheered
it echoed through the valley far below.
These Queensland mountains many have revered,
though riders died when footings lost would throw.
remembers how the man rode snowy’s side,
his father told the story long ago.
And how his heart beat hard with so much pride,
it was his Granddad dealt the best a blow.
He fronts the mob and halts them with one crack!
now with them all defeated, drives them back.

Not that I don't like poetry, it's just one of those writing forms that has to be done a certain way to grab my attention and keep me held there. I really do like what you wrote though it's very good and it's kind of like your own little story going on. So much could come from reading that. It's definitely an inspiring poem. I am saving it to read again later. I will check around for your work. Do you have any works being sold through Barnes & Nobles yet or Borders books?
G'day Steven, I understand it is still a little warn in W.A. mate, anyway I did approach Barnes & Noble & they virtually didn't want to know me, so I have been selling my latest book 'Rhymes of Times' via justlocal.com.au or a signed copy direct from me as I do have a paypal account, but as mentioned I will hopefully in the next couple of months will release my compilation which will have access through Borders, Barnes & Noble & Amazon etc. because of the publishing company handling my American release. & about the little story within the sonnet that is one of the disaplines of writing a sonnet, also Shekespearean sonnets are basically 14 lines, 10 syllables per line with rhyming lines.
Dave.
Dave.

I will check around once there is a release here. Your writing is fun and interests me because of the words used. Some of which I never heard before because they are used over in Australia. I always like learning the local lingo over seas.
As for warm here, yeah it's getting there. Haven't really had much of a winter up this way. Heck the winter olympics almost didn't happen since there wasn't much snow up in Canada this year. Crazy world huh.
No worries mate, I will be letting everyone know when it is released, BTW I am a little confused, you profile says 'Kelso W.A.' I took that as you live in Western Australia, but it seems I am wrong, where exactly are you mate.

My daughter probably would like it if we lived way downunder there. She's got this thing lately for those Australian dudes.
As for your work, I'll be looking forward to reading it.

Hi Everyone, I just posted my memoir book title under Non-fiction, but I am also co-author of another book called, "The Weeping Rose", by Janet L. Foster and co-author (Me) Barbara A. Foley. My sister wrote the poems in this book and it was at a time when she had alot of heartache in her life. It's mostly true poems and some seem dark and you really have to read them to figure out the true meaning behind what she's trying to say. I took the photos in this book to go along with the poems she wrote. I loved doing it because every poem has a photo to go along with the poem, it may give the readers more of a perspective of what she was trying to convey. It's now listed on Goodreads giveaway if you'd like to sign up to try to win a copy. We would love reviews of both the poems and the photos. Her book and my memoir book is listed on Lulu.com, Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and some other book stores online.

Starry (and everypone else) I'm not sure why there's a "Read the first chapter free" link on the page. the book contains 38 of my poems (48-53 pages) and is not realy organized in chapters per se. Thank you for the commenbts but let's be clear: Poetry Slams are compititions licenced by Slam Inc. out of Chicago,IL and are qualifiers for National and International compititions. the poetic form that has grown out of these compititions has become popular in recent years and is now taught in schools. What I do is another type of Performance oriented poetry all together. While it happends more often than you think , the comparible is essentially the same as saying that Lady Gaga sounds almost like Tina Turner or Barbra Streisand. I'm glad you found it invnovative and intriguing but I had to clarify. Thanks for the opportunity and by the way, Im a huge Lady Gaga fan as well as enjoy the others I mentioned. thanks again.

I don't believe that many people respect them as much as they once did. I did share your mom on my facebook page though in hopes to help you out.
I have thought about it but will probably have to do it later starry. Thank you very much. I understand the budget. :D
Thanks Starry! I think there IS an e-book version on both Amazon.com and the publishers web page at: http://www.iuniverse.com/Bookstore/Bo...Let me know when you go to buy it and thanks again!
Hi there. So glad I found you all. The name of my book is Omar Blue and K-9 Town, USA. Its a book the whole family can enjoy. In addition to my book being on sale at Amazon.com, Kindle and Smashwords ebooks, I have put the entire book on the Goodreads site. I would love to have other poet's comments. It's about:Mighty Doberman Omar Blue and his pack of fierce canines form K-9 Town, USA. Predators await them but they are in for a big surprise. Fearless to a fault, the pack survives by their love for each other, and for their new home. While the canine Elders and puppies settle in, there's no end to the adventure. What would make Dirty Sam the Grizzly have second thoughts about attacking the female Elders? Why would Coyote Red think he and his pals could tear down the wedding space even before Rottweiler Brady and Poodle Sophie Jean have their wedding? What are those naughty puppies up to? If that isn't enough, whose hiding behind The Big Oak Tree now?
The K-9 Town canines are always ready for a challenge, but it's Omar's keen and mysterious wit that usually prevails.

Hi, I'm a poet. I don't have a book yet, but my poetry has been published in many journals, including Nimrod, Tar River Review, Rattle, North American Review, Spillway, Hanging Loose, Rhino, Poetry East, and Poetry New Zealand. My work is included in the anthologies Twelve Los Angeles Poets and Wait a Minute I Have to Take off My Bra. I love the light on November afternoons, the smell of the ocean, a warm back to curl against in bed. I hate pretense, fundamentalism and sauerkraut.
And a wonderful poet at that Ruth.....(-:

Just published an collection of poetry "Midbar Negev Nights" on Bookbaby. It was compiled over a number of years and records my experiences and travels throughout the world. Michael Brown, the master of slam poetry, read it and said "Your good stuff is as good as anybody's. I listed some of his works like "The Falling Walendas" as well as those by my good friend Tom Weigel. Tom was a student of Ted Berrigen and one of the New York School of poets.

for more information and updates!I just published my first book of poetry called,"Tapestry".
"Tapestry" is a vivid sojourn inside the mind of the poet. His inspirations, hopes and fears come to life through a series of interlacing poems which depict his life and careers, his loves and disappointments, and, of course, his successes. Great to ponder in the wee hours of any long and lonely night. This is a collection of poetry which has been compared to the style of Edgar Allan Poe, with a classic, medieval tone.
"Tapestry" is available for purchase at: Lulu
I can also be found on Facebook A sample is available in the Bookstore!
It's crazy to think my third poetry book has just been published, but (pinch me) it has!
