I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the story. I wrote the novel in an episodic style and appreciate that it doesn’t work for everyone. I wrote The Independent with the intent of provoking the reader to think about how they lead themself, how they lead others, and how they want to be led. Each of the major characters (and some minor ones) are intended to represent aspects of leadership that are meant to either inspire the reader to want to adopt or reject that character’s brand of leadership. The changes in character and POV are meant to provide contrast to those leadership styles. I expect that the sequel will launch in 2026.
