Kat Featherly Hi Violet! Thank you so much for giving my book a chance even if it didn’t align with your values.

I do want to mention that I was raised Christian and I do believe my book has the most important Christian values such as acceptance, forgiveness, repentance, and love. I try to incorporate these values in everything, not just my books.

However, I like (I’m sure) many other Christians, believe LGBTQ+ people were created in God’s image the same as you and me, and thus I will never erase their existence from my books because they exist in real life and are just as important to this world as you, me and everyone else in it.

While I have stepped away from the Church in recent years, these were lessons and beliefs taught to me by pastors and some of my (very) religious extended family members.

So I wouldn’t say having a queer character means the book doesn’t have Christian values - in my eyes, it’s quite the opposite.

But I respect your opinion, and of course, no one should read something that goes against their values.

I just wanted to note that not all Christians were raised with the same beliefs you have surrounding queer people, and that doesn’t make them less Christian.

Have a lovely day!
