Hi there! Sorry, why does my account need to be unprivated? I’d prefer to keep it private if possible.
When your account is private, the group's mods can't see the topics you've created, which means we can't see when people create duplicate threads. If you only have a very small number of comments this isn't an issue, but if you have more than 8-10 comments it means we have to take the time to look at all of them, which we don't have time to do.People creating duplicate threads is a big problem in this group. It takes up mod time and resources.
I believe you are thinking of The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell (Author), Dustin Thomason (Author) published in 2004.

I read this around the time the DaVinci Code first came out and was popular, so probably 2003 - 2006. It did not read as if it was an older book then, so I think it might have been published sometime in the decade prior.
In the end, (view spoiler)[ the book is successfully decrypted and the roommates figure out that it contains the secret location of a giant stash of priceless works of art. (hide spoiler)]
