Thank you for pointing out the points of view. I think the book would have been much better realized through the women’s points of view, I didn’t find the male voices believable, I didn’t “feel” them and I don’t have a taste for writing that uses a male gaze to write women characters. Sadly disappointing, as I loved Happiness.

The memory of love is full of discrepancies. The depth of the male characters versus the lack of POV of other key figures. The very detailed story of (f.e.) Cole’s adoration for Safia and the rushed ending of the rest of everyone’s stories. Just when it got interesting, the curtain fell. I wanted to know more about the characters, what really happened in the aftermath of the civil war. For sure a “blink and you’ll miss” feeling.
