I wouldn't expect much from this Nobel winner - Llosa hews tight to actual history so there is no "new" tale about Trujillo. He does add some depth to the characters involved in the assassination, making it more an assemblage of smaller tales of hope/betrayal/sleaze and whatnot than a great story as a whole.
