Beth, highly recommend People of the Book by Brooks. I listened to the audio book and it was fabulous. The Australian narrator is Edwin Wren. She is marvelous. Another good book by her, if you haven't read it, is March.
I just started People of the Book (paperback) last night. Couple chapters in and it is interesting.
To my late friend: We both highly admire/admired Geraldine Brooks. She is one of my top three favorite writers.
Missing you, still.
