About Mike/Miguel - this actually reflects what I've observed living in Spain and being married into a Spanish family. Many Spanish professionals who work with foreigners choose anglicised versions of their names themselves. I have several adult Spanish students who specifically introduce themselves as 'Mike', not 'Miguel' or 'Miqui' (which many consider childish). Similarly, my grandson Alberto goes by 'Albie' and my cousin Jaime uses 'Jim'. It's quite common in tourist areas and represents how many Spaniards navigate between cultures today.
