Owen The longer we've had to wait for this, the more I worry it'll be a disappointment. I think I'll still like it more than you did, but it's concerning.

First Law is definitely still worth reading. (Might go back soon myself).

Pelli A wizard

message 3: by Shannon (new)

Shannon This is exactly how I felt, sadly.

message 4: by Kaye (new)

Kaye This, exactly. Do First Law. You won't be disappointed. I have read every single other book he's written multiple times, even the Shattered Sea trilogy. This thing was so shallow and awful. I'm shocked it has so many good reviews.

message 5: by Ray (new)

Ray I respect your review... but you should definitely give The First Law books a chance. I have read all of his books, and yes, the Devils is a downgrade compared to them. I personally enjoyed the Devils, but I'd still say the only good thing it has over the first law books is his prose, and not by a long shot.

Jason Barrett You are hitting the nail on the head here for me.....I'm 200 pages in and I am close to giving up and I usually dont do that. I will probably fight through it....I was so looking forward to this book too.

message 7: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Ignoffo I agree with this review. I recommend Red Country. In my opinion that is Joe's best work and it's a standalone that doesn't upset any chronology of other books.

message 8: by Christie (new)

Christie 100% agree. I am so disappointed. I abandoned the audiobook 8 hours in because it’s that boring and disappointing. I thought for sure I would love it.

Lily Johnson This is exactly how I felt!

message 10: by Marcel (new)

Marcel Plessis The First Law books are much, much, much better than this. I 100% agree with your review.
