That was exactly my reading experience as well. I did enjoy basically everything about the vibes, the twisted weird creepy characters up to that plot twist. You cannot do that when the book is in first person. It just does not make sense and I did not like it at all. But I did enjoy your review! You are not alone 🥰
I thought I was so clever about my theory on Ethan being EJ. I picked up on both of them being blonde, the wine thing, dead parents, rich, etc. But nope! Now it’s clear from reading the reviews that I wasn’t the only one. What a let down.
I’d have even liked the idea of Ethan being EJ and the one who kills Dr Hale and Tricia being PL and neither of them knowing about eachother being a patient until the end and it’s then a battle of who stays alive?
Then Tricia’s mothers phrase of ‘people can keep a secret if one of them is dead’ would still be relevant
AGREE! I thought she Ethan was EJ and that would make SO much more sense and make for such a good ending
This was the twist I was expecting, too, and yeah, what a crazy letdown the real ending was. Laughable and made no sense.
I think most people reading this book would assume EJ was Ethan, so that’s why Frieda went a completely different direction for a twist, but unfortunately the twist she chose didn’t make sense and kind of ruined the ending of the book.
I thought EJ was Ethan as well. Everyone turning out to be a killer was a bit much and all of this over a parking spot is crazy.
