No, you cannot start the year with two dreadful books! You will have to go and find an author you love and reread your favourite or something to break this streak!

I'm getting there, Carolien. Thank you. The current book I'm reading is a reread, but not something I've added to My Books. You're too kind. I appreciate your view.

Thank you, both of you!
Oh no. That bad? I tried book 1 in 2016 and it didn't suck me in, so I never tried again with the series. I hope you'll find a 5 star read next to make up for this.

I could recognise that the book is not universally bad. But I didn't enjoy it. Book one is the 2nd best book I've read. First of all time is Heir of Novron.

I love Sullivan's series a lot. I think I wasn't in the right mindset for Sanderson when I tried it. I got to page 700 and was still not invested so I simply put it down. I'll try again at some point.
Reading is not an exact science, as you know. Kudos to you for keeping reading till page 700. I would've given up long before that. The only reason I completed Rhythm of War is that I was riding on the side effects of the wait and the hype of this book.
I see what you mean, he laid too much on the table suddenly for the big showdown in the last one perhaps. I found it a bit exhausting compared to the other ones. Still looking forward to the next one though.

As I am, but I hold no real hopes. The type of ending that brings a lump to the throat was too short.
Yeah, yeah I’m shocked that you rated this 1 star but it was a bit slower, some of the storylines were a slog and if I have to read one more terrible Adolin-shallan dialogue I might stop altogether, but what truly SHOCKS me about your review is that you rated THE DARK KNIGHT 1 star. Wow, that is truly heartbreaking.
