Dustin Lee Hi Lizzy, thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review. I helped Erica edit this edition of The Daisy Chain, and I really appreciate the care you put into your feedback.

You brought up an important point about historically insensitive language. Erica and I discussed this at length during the editing process — whether to remove or modernize certain terms. Like you, I generally prefer contemporary phrasing. In this case, we chose to preserve some of the period-accurate language to reflect the characters and the time as authentically as possible, even when it’s uncomfortable to read. That said, your note about this resonates, and we’ll be revisiting how to address it more transparently in the disclaimer for future editions.

Thank you again for reading and for engaging so thoughtfully with the story — it means a lot to both of us.

— Dustin Lee

Lizzy Wow, thank you both so much for your responses! I really appreciate the care that was put into the decision on whether to keep or remove that language. I think a disclaimer about it would have helped me as someone who doesn't read much in this genre. Thank you, again!
