So glad to hear it's not just me. The MC is stupid - for lack of any other word. She's not interested in writing, fashion, working for a fashion magazine (although she made cuttings as a tween), or NYC - much less the cultural life she's supposed to cover. She's overweight by magazine standards but actually normal sized, terribly clumsy, and incapable of answering questions or having a conversation. All we know is she went to college & moved out of suburban Philadelphia because her high school friend did a few years earlier. Nothing here is worth 600 pages.
