Author here - thank you for this breathtaking review! It's a cold, damp day in the UK today, and coming across this has truly made my month. I got a couple of comments about the excema thing, and I've realised that I didn't explain the link well enough; basically asthma and excema are overreactive immune responses, and a child with one will often develop both conditions (It's known as 'the atopic march'). They can be triggered by environmental factors, but also through stress, so I was trying to show that *both* of Lilith's childhood conditions have returned due to her circumstances, indicating that things are getting worse for her. I hope that makes some sense! I'm currently doing a light edit for a paperback launch, so I'll make sure I add a tiny bit more detail to make it more evident. Again, many thanks!
