I was looking forward to this review 🔥
Such an aggravating reading experience.
I am only halfway through this book sand will finish it, but this reviewer is right on. The introduction lays out five themes, none of which are woven through the narrative. the narrative itself is a welter of names and dates with no overarching theory. What's more, the author is completely uncritical regarding U.S. foreign policy. There is absolutely no consideration of the role that economics in U.S. foreign policy. Very very disappointing. I'll finish it but won't keep it in my library. The writing style is very pedestrian, I might add.
