So far I'm enjoying this; I'm primarily listening to it on a Playaway while walking, but I also have this copy in print (I've read a bit as well.)
That’s great, Karin. I haven’t started yet but I’ve had dental surgery and am supposed to rest for two weeks 😳 so I hope to get to it within the week.
Excellent, Rosemarie! When we all finish, we can say who our favourite family is, the Moffats or the Pyes.

Uncle Bennie is a favorite in this house too. It's not just who he is or what he does, it's how it is described:"Uncle Bennie was famous in Cranbury. He was a hero because here he was, only three years old, and yet he was an uncle. All the children came and gaped at him when he came to visit Jerry and Rachel, which was just about every Saturday. His mother, who was Jerry and Rachel’s grandmother, would leave him at the Pyes’ when she went to town to do the marketing, and children in the neighborhood would gather around and study Uncle Bennie because he was an uncle at the age of three."
Famous and a hero! And Estes is happy to elaborate on the magnificence of the kid. He gets the most interesting ice cream; people give him money; he gets to go places. How could you not love him?
Wow! The father is 35 and marries the mother at 17 years old. Their mother seems quite awesome and hardly blinks when the children inform her that they want a puppy. She’s not your average mother. I quite like her a lot!

But IRL that's a huge "ick" factor for me. But it didn't spoil the book for me at all.
I'm just at the point where Ginger Pye is stolen. I can't help thinking that his kidnapper is the owner/friend of Curious George, the man with the yellow hat! He has a monkey and now he wants a dog. 😂
The man with the yellow hat is no felon! He had a little blue car. When I saw the Curious George movie I was most disappointed that the man with the yellow hat didn't fall in love with and marry the nurse from Curious George Goes to the Hospital
Well, I finished with a few days to go in October and just loved this book. I am torn though as to which family I enjoyed more, the Moffats or the Pyes. I'm not sure if I can choose!Do you have a favourite Karin and Rosemarie?
I'll have to decide when I read Pinky Pye. My guess is that the Moffats will be continuously good throughout all the books (which is quite a feat, because there are four of them!) but we'll see.
My favourite book of all is The Middle Moffat, followed by Rufus M. Jane is my favourite child in the two series; I just love her kindness plus spunk plus other things.I liked Ginger Pye better than Pinky Pye, even though I do like the last one (but it will get 3 stars.)
I would have loved Pinky Pye when I was the target age, though.
