I will say, I enjoyed Beowulf a lot more when I watched someone performing it - as in, orally telling the story the way it might have been told at the time. It feels a bit less meandery, and the wordplay is 'chunkier'.

Also, Seamus Heaney's version is my favourite, but your mileage may vary.
