Hey Jeff -- thanks for that thoughtful review many years ago now. I know a lot of folks thought the beginning was slow -- but then again, I can tell you, a big part of the reason for me to write the book was because I wanted to work in the history of WWII in the South Pacific. You might even say, that's the real meat of the story, and the action and giant croc are really the sugar-coating. Weird but true. At any rate, after all this time, it's all in one even bigger tome -- with, you might be sad to hear -- significantly more history of the war in the area.
