Definitely a road trip — too many stories hide between the miles. And pizza, always. Burgers are for quick stops, pizza is for thinking. 😄
Would you rather read at night or write at night?
Read at night. (I totally agree on road trips!)WYR have the power to never feel physically pain or never feel emotional pain…
Tough one! I think emotional pain shapes us more — without it, stories would lose their soul. But maybe one quiet night without either wouldn’t hurt. 😅
Would you rather forget one painful memory or relive one perfect moment?
Equally tough…but I would rather relive the painful memories. Some of the most painful can be our most precious. Example, caring for my dad when he has Alzheimer’s was terrible, but they are my last memories with him. WYR…be at a pool or beach?
That’s really touching, Ruth. Painful memories often hold the deepest love — it’s what makes them stay with us.I’d pick the beach — something about the sound of waves feels like peace after a storm.
WYR spend a day without technology or without speaking to anyone?
Spend a day without speaking to anyone. I live in the deep woods and value my quiet time…WYR live in a treehouse or a cave?
Treehouse for sure! There’s something magical about being above the ground, surrounded by leaves and wind.WYR explore the ocean depths or hike up a misty mountain?
Painful memories after time lose the pain but hold the memory. I’d rather hike up a misty mountain than explore the oceans depth. Claustrophobia gets me just thinking about the submarine to the bottom. I drove a tour bus as my midlife crisis job for 22 years until I retired. I’ve driven up mountain roads in snow sleet ice rain wind. I also hate commas, not really. I found out during my short retirement that I absolutely missed some different conversations. My wife found places to hide to be in quietness. My daughter worked a Prostrate Cancer research center and asked if I would transport some patients and take temps in 2020 and at almost 74 it was a new lease on life. Hence the long answer to Hike up a misty mountain.
WYR live in the woods with entertainment or without all the devices of distraction?
John, that was really moving to read — sounds like your journey had both storms and peace along the way. I like how you found meaning in the quiet moments too.As for your question — I’d rather live in the woods without any devices. Sometimes silence teaches us more than all the noise around us. 🌲
And Ruth, I’ll go with Italian dinner — good food and stories always win. 🍷
WYR watch the sunrise from a mountain top or the sunset by the ocean?
Sunset at the beach (reflecting off the water with the waves crashing!)WYR have no tv for life or no radio for life?
I’d rather cook! There’s something special about sharing food you’ve made yourself — even if it’s chaos in the kitchen. 😄
I’d go with shopping in a store. There’s something real about touching things, seeing colors, and talking to people — it feels more human. But I have to admit, online shopping wins when time is short and life gets busy. 😄
WYR: (for movies made from books) watch the movie first then read the book or read the book before the movie?
Ruth, I’d rather read the book first. Otherwise I’d be disappointed not knowing what the movie really should be. WYR Driver a new car or drive one that has been driven gently?
Drive one driven gently. Drive off in a new car and automatically lose $20,000 in equity. lol. WYR live in constant cold climate or hot climate?
Unless you’re incredibly wealthy, you will go out like you came in. My 97 yo mother has almost spent her entire wealth. Not that she was wealthy. 80 and poor for me. WYR drink tap water or bottled water?
You actually can live long even if you’re not rich — I always tell my patients the same thing. You have a choice: change your lifestyle — eat a bit healthier, walk 30 minutes a day, every day —
or keep living the same way and take pills for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, kidneys, heart, and so on.
You don’t decide at 70 — you decide at 30 or 50.
Well said Vasyl! My doctor has preached moderation to me since my 20’s. He said what you eat at that age sets the tone for your senior years. I try to live a minimalist lifestyle…except my addiction to books, so I would choose 80 and poor.
Thank you, Ruth! Your doctor was absolutely right — small choices in our 20s echo decades later. And I love your minimalist approach (books are a healthy addiction anyway 😄).
I’d make my own pizza — it always tastes better when you’ve earned it 😄.(Though I’d probably eat half the cheese before it even reaches the oven!)
WYR: spend a year traveling the world or a year living completely off the grid in peace and silence?
Ruth wrote: "Bottled water for sure.WYR: live without your phone for a week or live without coffee for a week?"
Without phone. The reason being is people don't connect outside their phone. There are so many beautiful things to see.
WYR live where is snows a lot or rains a lot
Live off the grid where it rains a lot. Would you rather have super-slow internet or a low phone battery?
