New Author- New to the Goodreads community > Likes and Comments

Hello everyone! It’s always been a dream of mine to put some of my stories onto the paper, and I have finally started doing so. I cannot lie to you – I have no idea what I’m doing 🤣. I have a few books self published through Amazon. My sales and reviews have came strictly off of word-of-mouth. I finally was able to get a little smarter with my first fiction book, Final Offer, and have more than two people review works before publishing.

Here’s where I need help: What would be some tips and advice that you could give me to help me make my future publication flourish? People have been very generous and have said that I have a gift. But I have no idea where to take it from here. Any advice and recommendations that you give would be greatly appreciated!

The community isn’t quite as lively as it was a few years ago, but there’s still a strong network of authors here, and it’s a great place to connect with interesting people.

For resources, I’d recommend "The Business of Being a Writer" by Jane Friedman, which is especially helpful for those pursuing traditional publishing. If you’re looking for a comprehensive guide that also covers indie publishing, I’d be glad to suggest my own recently published book, "Trust Your Story." It’s designed to support writers at every stage of the journey, from plotting to publishing and marketing.
