Interesting commentary on the Spanish cookbook by Juan Altamiras. Oddly enough, I have similar thematic cookbooks, including "Twelve Months of Monastery Soups" by Brother Victor. And being interested in Spanish history, you might be interested in "Ornament of the world: How Muslims, Jews, and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain" by the late Yale Univ. scholar, Maria Rosa Menocal, if you haven't already read it.

That cookbook sounds great! I love soup. And I have indeed read the Menocal book! It's kind of a classic.
