Kate Gorien Hello Librarians,
I hope you’re doing well.
I would like to request your help and guidance regarding my Don’t Kill series. Several editions on Goodreads currently list incorrect or outdated ASINs, because I unpublished the earlier files on Amazon KDP to fix formatting issues.
The new, final ASINs belong to the revised editions which will be officially released in about 3 weeks.
Here is the situation:
✅ What currently exists on Goodreads
Editions created with outdated ASINs, based on earlier, now-removed KDP uploads
These ASINs are no longer valid or connected to a real Amazon product
The new ASINs (one for each book) are correct, but the books are not yet live on Amazon (release mid-December)
❗ What I would like to do now
Before the official release, I would like to run Goodreads Giveaways for all three books and provide:
the epub ARC files
the final covers
the final metadata
To do that, I need clarification from you on the correct procedure.
❓ My questions for you
Should the outdated editions with the old ASINs be deleted entirely?
(Since those ASINs no longer exist and the books were never actually published)
Should we update the existing editions with the new ASINs, even though the books will not be available on Amazon for another 3 weeks?
OR would it be better to create separate “ARC / pre-release” editions for the purpose of Giveaways, using the final epub and cover,
and keep the official editions separate until the release date?
📌 Additional information
I am happy to provide:
the correct new ASINs for each book
final metadata for all volumes
cover links (non-bookseller, public)
epub ARC files
I just want to make sure the Goodreads records are correct and that the Giveaway setup follows your best practices.
Thank you very much for your help and for all the work you do!
Your guidance is truly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Kate

Scott We do not delete old or out of print editions.
When the new editions are imported you can create giveaways.
(Since you only mention ASINs I assume these are all Kindle.)
