I don't know if anything we say will do any good. With many changes, I have complained - not just to Goodreads, but also Amazon.
There are other apps, but I still like Goodreads best for maintaining my "read" items. But I have started keeping a list of my books elsewhere - just in case.
I use GR on my PC - so all this is just so we are all app only. And there are serious flaws with the app.
you know how gr got rid of seeing everyone's reading goals and then many (MANY) of us complained on the help forums and questions forums and they brought it back -- that's what we need to do with this, because wtf?!
lets hope this is just a bad dream

I only just joined goodreads to find readers! I’m on threads and insta but they don’t like the kind of books I like.
genuinely what would taking away pms help anyway? Like why take away pms instead of working on things people have actually been asking them to add/fix (my vote is to keep pms in case people think I'm on the wrong side in this fight)

I think it’s dues to safety stuff ? Like idk sending links that have viruses and weird pms . Still I think it’s weird to just erased it completely :(
