Colleen Hall In It Was Always You I enjoyed seeing Jesse and Renee get their own story. They’ve both appeared in the earlier Trinity Lakes series books. Here, they’re featured as the main characters. Both Jesse and Renee bring the baggage of past hurts into their friendship as they reconnect after a long separation. As they struggle to work out their issues, they carry the damage of these injuries, both emotional and physical, into their burgeoning romantic relationship. Danger lurks and threatens them. It Was Always You weaves themes of trust, forgiveness, spiritual growth, family, and “friends to more” into a story that will warm your heart and stay with you after you’ve read the last word.
