J.C. Plummer I think this author always uses Carlyle in Yorkshire for the earldom, much like Lucy Marin always uses Romsley for the earldom. It's always annoying when an author feels they have to mix things up in the fanon. It's a sort of a conceited independence as Miss Bingley would say. LOL

Lit Reader Oh, I am irked when fandom names get confused too! I get that authors can pick any name they like and make it work, but as an old community with a very niche (fetish) genre, there are tacit agreements in thr background too…

The Matlock Earldom comes from the 1995 BBC tv series, so it goes pretty much just one rung below Austen as an authoritative source (hahhaha)
