Taufiq Yves Honest reflection, Shivani - you conveyed clearly how the lack of joy and angst left the story flat for you.

Shivani Singh Hi Taufiq. I cannot describe how disappointed I was. First of all the descriptions of the fungussy damp salty places heroine has to stay at. Somehow it might have been better not to tell us. As a reader I want the main character to suffer. But staying in a house waterlogged by the sea and stinking of it and then doing a full face of make up. Somehow it just was .. I cannot describe. Plus the hero. I hated his stupidity. The girl goes around with bruises and he accepts her lame explanations?? Not very heroic of him is it?? I’d want him to go bash up people. He was very very beta. And to top it all he was beefy. 6’5”. Moose Miller. Nope. You know Moose Miller? See one character has to be weak and suffering. The other one has to be this aspirational beacon of light who somehow loves the weak one. If both are pathetic and poor. Sorry. Not for me.
