I thought last night's episode of Nova on PBS titled "The Origami Revolution" was particularly interesting. It's about the growing use of folding in science and engineering, including uses in biology, medicine, materials science, space exploration, and astrophysics.

I think PBS's Nature is one of the best shows on tv. The latest episodes about Spies in the Wild has been great.

I agree, Betsy. Fascinating how they can use math, lasers, etc. to design such complex folded devices.

A dramatic biography of Einstein starts today in the U.S. on the National Geographic Channel.

I wonder how much truth will be contained in a 'dramatic biography'. I hope NatGeo doesn't go the way of the History channel.

I don't know if any of you are regular Jeopardy watchers, but we are. In January, they're going to have a really neat showdown between Jennings, Rutter, & Holzhauer the 3 best champs ever. They're going to duke it out until one of them has won 3 games!

I have always loved Nova. You learn so much. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and I had left the tv on. Then I got trapped watching a show about fractals. I didn't really understand completely. But it was spellbinding.

My wife shared a video with me on FB that had a very intense, somewhat goofy Charles Darwin singing about how he came up with the idea of natural selection. It was funny & informative, one of the episodes of "Horrible Histories" produced by the BBC. Apparently they're free on Amazon Prime & Hulu.

This YouTube on quantum mechanics is fascinating. It's an overview, but serious on the subject. Sean Caroll has many excellent books at all levels. This YouTube is for everybody. I am interested in your thoughts. Even though it is over an hour it is riveting.Sean Carroll

The video lecture series The Many Hidden Worlds of Quantum Mechanics from The Great Courses is a great way to get the basics of quantum mechanics. Professor Sean Carroll is, however, up front about his bias towards the many worlds approach.
