Great that you are reading my lengthy book, Arianne. I hope you are enjoying it. Good reading, Charles Freeman.
This book will by my Thanksgiving Holiday intellectual feast. I am already overjoyed by simply paging through the many lavish full color plates.. I have the hard copy and am overjoyed with quality of book itself. It has an undeniable presence. I love the feel and texture of the high quality high gloss pages and the superior print quality. These characteristics of the solid physical book enhance my reading experience.
Thanks for your perceptive review, Arianne. It is a pity that the book has not sold well- perhaps too heavy! In the States there is not even a paperback edition due, unlike the UK where it is titled The Awakening.and we have a paperback but without many of the illustrations. I think at the hardback price in the US it is brilliant value and I give away to special friends the copies that were sent over here. Good reading, Charles.
