The winners are: Private Owens: A George Owens Novel by William DeForest Halsted and ELIS: Irish call girl by Anna Rajmon
Treasures of the LochsIf it's okay, I'll nominate Treasures of the Lochs. This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is an exciting, powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out.

This book was just read as a runner up group read last quarter.
I just noticed The Hurricane Code is available for $2.99 as a Kindle book on Amazon, for anyone who might want to check it out for our discussion.
His Name is Junsaku by Tenkara Smart - A haunting, historical fantasy romance set in 17th century Japan and the time of the samurai. His Name is Junsaku
I recently read The Hurricane Code again and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though it is a worst-case-scenario story about climate in the future there were so many nice touches that made it a pleasure to read, like the Sentient Computer program called Searcher. The human characters were really good too.
I've read several 'climate fiction' novels and I liked this one the best. The characters were good and their situations, unfortunately realistic. Probably my favorite was the newly created AI the father made to protect his daughter, who wrote code trying to stop hurricanes. His name was Searcher and he was a real character. You get to see him learn and mature until the ending which was a real twist.

This was my review of The Hurricane Code: The book description says 'A Vivid Glimpse of a Possible Future: Powerful hurricanes dominate Earth’s weather in 2099 as global temperatures soar.'
And I thought the novel did exactly that. I liked it a lot, especially the visual imagery and I think it would make a good movie.
The AI character was interesting too, he had some personality.
I thought The Hurricane Code was an easy read, a fast moving story of a dystopian nature, but some moments of humor too. Great characters, the main ones being a young woman coder, a farm boy fleeing monster storms, and an AI with some pretty remarkable powers, and yes, it did have personality, and showed growth too. I thought the story got into the likely consequences of global warming better than any other novel I've read, and I read quite a bit of SciFi.
