John Williams I think you've put your finger on the issue that separates you from Jung's way of thinking, Wes. You make your case well. I think Jung would say that the proper (only) place for interacting with the sublime mystery of all things (God) is in human subjectivity (intuition)--that any attempt to make God an objective being is an act of invention. Yes, he thought that with effort we could bring the matter in our subconscious into the conscious realm, a gesture of demystifying "fate." Jung was Freud's disciple and they shared a belief in the power of subconscious matter to affect our conscious lives but they differed on the role of sexuality. The key to everything according to Freud. Jung's emphasis on the collective unconscious and all the archetypes was alien to Freud. And perhaps Jung was practicing a bit of invention with those specifics himself.
