I love this review SO MUCH 😂😂😂 since i started reading it I thought “wow this book would be perfect for fans of people we meet on vacation” i bet they will love it 😂😂😂 as for me, im removing it from my tbr right fucking now byeee
Wonderful review! 😂 I am guilty of loving PWMOV so I’ll give this a try, but I should add that I am nervous because she writes a book because her fiancé needs money? like wtf??
My favorite part of this review was when you left his name as Jeremey in the Relationship section 😂
Thank you for such a thorough review! I will be removing this from my TBR immediately. Good riddance.
Thank you for this detailed review! I recently read If I Never Met you by Mhairi which had a whole amount of emotional cheating done *to* the MC, and that whole plot f-ing destroyed my mental health. I hate how emotional cheating is normalized in these books? It happens even in PWMOV! At the very least, the blurb for this book should've had TWs for infidelity, divorce, etc., these topics are so triggering for some people.
I haven’t read this book but upon looking for one to read I always browse through reviews and wow you are so incredibly petty. what person dedicates so much time and energy into something they didn’t like. you could’ve just stopped reading lmao. ridiculous.
I was on the edge about this because I thought it would be very similar to the basic storyline of "The Beach Read."So holy shit thank you!! This review is pure gold.

Lololol thank you!!! Happy I could help! Yeah it definitely is trying to be Emily Henry but she’s just a better writer or at the very least a better storyteller than what we got in this book. I liked Beach Read (esp the writer aspect) but I just didn’t get that here. It really is closer to People We Meet on Vacation but even then, it’s just less compelling and even more iffy relationship-wise. Beach Read made me care for the characters and I was invested in their journey and the books they were writing. That clearly didn’t happen for me here 😂 the fact I was angry that they were even writing the book just… didn’t end well

I’m 10/10 sure I started that book, got about five minutes in and promptly returned it to the library. I’m so sorry a. that you read it 💀 and b. that it really was horrible to you and your well-being.
Yes! PWMOV definitely has emotional cheating (his poor fiancé????) and it’s no different here. And yes again! The summary mentioned NONE of what actually happens in this book so my hope with this review was to yes, air my grievances, but to also just tell people what the book is actually about so they can accurately decide if the book is for them. I’m so happy it was useful to you!

When I’m down, I’m down bad 😂 also having the ebook makes it a lot easier to be very, very detailed lmao who knew

I liked beach read too!! Definitely better than PWMOV. I read it a second time and liked it a little less bc my tastes changed since I first read it but I still liked the plot and journey and characters. That clearly was not the result of this book 💀🕺😂
Saby Westcliff wrote: "Wonderful review! 😂 I am guilty of loving PWMOV so I’ll give this a try, but I should add that I am nervous because she writes a book because her fiancé needs money? like wtf??"
I really hope you like it bc I don’t want you to be as mad as I was lol BUT yes literally the fiancé is the worst and I still haven’t gotten over it. Let me know how it goes for you!!!
This is possibly my favorite book review I've ever read! Clear, concise, and funny to boot. Sorry you didn't like it, but I so appreciate your honesty about the book!
Yes!! The obnoxious profundity of it all (and ending up being more masturbatory than profound) made me DNF at 8% and reading your review makes me so happy that I did
I’m halfway through and purely hate reading at this point. I HATE both of them. The reason Emily Henry works is that her characters have at least one redeeming quality. These two? NEIN
Oh, I wish I’d read this review before I bought it. I’m having a hard time getting into it. I am an Emily Henry fan, but liked PWMOV less than Beach Read, partly because I’m not a fan of a present day story constantly being interrupted by flashbacks. If I’d known it was basically PWMOV, but with emotional cheating and lesser writing, I could have saved myself some money.
Thank you so much for writing this review. It saved me the day I would have wasted reading a book, that I now know, I would have despised with the fire of 1000 suns. You have done us all a service. 👏👏👏
I hate this book so hard. Forcing myself to finish it because I waited forever for it from the public library, but even football is more interesting than this book. The characters are caricatures, the plot is banal (I’m being kind: I’m not actually sure there is a plot), and the writing is overwrought. Why did this get such good reviews?
I don't think I would have been able to fully appreciate your review had I not read this book the whole way through. So there's that. Thanks for your detailed review.

AW thank you so much!! It was my way of coping 😂 I'm happy to sacrifice myself if it helps others when it comes to books so thanks for reading the review!!!!

and you only got 8% through like it got so much worse (hard to even believe I know) 😩
Kate wrote: "I’m halfway through and purely hate reading at this point. I HATE both of them. The reason Emily Henry works is that her characters have at least one redeeming quality. These two? NEIN"
Yes!! I couldn't respect either of them and was so confused how I supposed to be rooting for them!

Right? PWMOV was hard for me bc I did NOT care about anything happening in the flashbacks and just wanted to be in the present... here I just didn't care where I was bc I loathed it all 😩
