Chemerinsky is a brilliant progressive legal scholar. His other books are targeted at a broader audience and are highly recommended. This one is ostensibly targeted at law school students but is highly readable and provides a tremendous foundation in constitutional law. It is expensive and huge, but well worth it on both counts.
That said, if you are not in law school, I would start with his other books, especially "Worse Than Nothing," "The Case Against The Supreme Court," and "Presumed Guilty."
