Hello everyone, and welcome to Between the Lines: Stories for Growth!
I'm Cynthia, the founder of this group and an author of books that explore fantastical worlds (Lyra Falconis) and the inner strength of young people (Memo dei Pensieri).
I created this space because I firmly believe that stories—whether novels, fantasy, or memoirs—are powerful tools for navigating real life. Not just for escaping, but for understanding, enduring, and growing.
To inaugurate this group the right way, I want to start with a theme that is very close to my heart: RESILIENCE.
That force that makes us get back up after a fall.
The ability to go through a difficult time and come out of it, somehow, changed.
The stories of characters (real or imaginary) who find light even in the darkness.
-OUR FIRST COLLECTIVE MISSION: Help me build our first shared bibliography. In the comments, suggest ONE BOOK that you think speaks memorably about resilience.
Any genre is perfectly fine: fantasy, classic, contemporary novel, graphic novel, memoir.
Tell us WHY that book, for you, is a beacon on this theme (without major spoilers!).
If you like, share in one line how that book touched you.
I'll start, to break the ice:
The book I propose: "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio Why I think it's about resilience: - Because it shows with tenderness and honesty how kindness—toward oneself and others—is the most everyday and powerful form of courage.
The protagonist, Auggie, faces the world not with superpowers, but with a fragile, stubborn will to be himself.
Now it's your turn! Add your book title to the list below. The most interesting conversation will come from discussing the WHYs behind your choices.
We'll learn from each other and find the perfect reads for our community together.
