Heidi Manley My regret is not having seen this comment sooner, you seem to have taken the entire plot quite personally. I wrote this when I was 16, this was my first novel aimed at young kids/young adults. It is meant to be have an immature sense of style.

I'm confused by the comment of " Hovercars and laser blasters don't constitute sci fi" What category do they fit into then?
Schmidt is simply a human like character whose background origins are left blank for a reason. He is human like, but is not from Earth. Therefore is not stated as human.

The lizards stand taller above humans, hence being described as huge. I don't think I needed to include shoe size and specific height for a book aimed at children.

As it is set in 23rd century the lifts are therefore not what lifts today would be like. So within a sci fi book can be anything I want them to be and it is within the children imagination to let that be visualised how they want to.

Regarding Schmidt's death it is implied for dramatic effect. Just like any film or tv show that has ever had any sort of gruesome murder or death. No one wants to read about someone dying with a sweet smile on their face if he died in agony.

So yes I made a lovely profit from my immature style when I wrote it as a child myself, for children. So there is that.
