Mareeva bruh🤣🤣😳 the way rape is like currency in this book wtf is even happening

message 16: by Natasha (new)

Natasha @tanaz well at least you liked mako😂

message 17: by Natasha (new)

Natasha @Anna i was wondering that myself and was like is there a person in this book who was not raped?💀

message 18: by Edria (new)

Edria Kaufman I mean it had it's flaws but let's not forget this is the telling of domestic violence. It's not meant to be perfect. It's very real and I think as hard as some of it was to read, it was told beautifully and brought awareness. I think giving this book a 1 star was INCREDIBLY ignorant.

message 19: by Natasha (new)

Natasha @Edria girl if you think this book did a beautiful job of describing domastic violence good for you, i'm gonna continue being ignorant then.

aniahhhh 🫦 So ummmm I’m not gonna.. uhm.. read the book. Thank u for this review..
LIKE CAUSE SHE DID WHAT WITH A BROOMSTICK??? AND HAD SEX WITH WHO???? AND ONLY LEFT HIM AFTER WHAT?????????

message 21: by Petro (new)

Petro thank you! I was gonna read this then I saw this so thank you for saving my time.

message 22: by Slayge (new)

Slayge This is why I check reviews first. Thank you for saving my energy

message 23: by Kasey (new)

Kasey Gates @Edria Agreed

message 24: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Zeiser This is the most honest book review I’ve ever read. It was too repetitive…..like I get it, rape is something you like to write about apparently….but damn. This one just wasn’t good.

message 25: by Julie (new)

Julie Lmaooooo I only read like 15% and already hated it. Now I'm especially happy that I didn't finish. It literally felt like it was written by a 15 year old with how shitty the writing style was

message 26: by Lady (new)

Lady Malfoy Woman do that a lot in abusive relationships. They return to their abuser because they know nothing else and they get manipulated. That part is very accurate to real life abuse. As for something being shoved up his ass I don’t know why you’re upset about it when he deserved it and he deserved to die.💀 dark romance probably isn’t for you.

message 27: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Fantham Such terrible writing. I DNFed nearly all HD Carlton books because they are so poorly written and just so out there. Characters are poorly written, stuff doesn't make sense. They are just ridiculous.

message 28: by Marissa (new)

Marissa @edria hard agree. I felt like this represented domestic abuse very accurately.

message 29: by Elena (new)

Elena Tell me you don’t relate to anything river has ever been thru without telling me you’ve never related 💀 any one with a similar story can sympathize with River and her inner monologue. Running back to someone who hates you, convincing yourself you’re in the wrong to keep peace and please someone else…. It’s very cliche writing sure but it IS what happens most commonly in those relationships. A lot of people don’t have a clear head about anything until they see, with undoubtable proof, their abuser/parter is actually having sex with someone else

Icould, but I won't Messier then my life

message 31: by Venus (new)

Venus Pearle @Elena yeah, I agree. Sure, you may think she's not a great writer, but this internal monolgue had me in my damn feels. And YES, cheating could be the reason she finally snaps out of it. She was fed full of lies that he lived her, he was sorry, he was going to fire his secretary, etc. But her catching him cheating proves that all of his lies were, in fact, lies.

message 32: by Araceli (new)

Araceli I only read 60% through and honestly it is very difficult to continue I had all the same issues. I was gonna keep going but after reading this umm yeah I don't think I will continue!

totally agree. she needs some writing lessons.

message 39: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Icould, but I won't wrote: "Messier then my life"

me and you both lol 😂

Natasha Elena wrote: "Tell me you don’t relate to anything river has ever been thru without telling me you’ve never related 💀 any one with a similar story can sympathize with River and her inner monologue. Running back ..."

it's not that deep, it's just a review of a fictional book. i didn't like her character and didn't like her actions. The writing was particularly bad with every dark trope she could've think just thrown in for the sake of shock effect and more drama. if you want to write a book with a sensitive topic like domestic violence at least make it good and believable.
Glad you liked it tho.

Natasha Araceli wrote: "I only read 60% through and honestly it is very difficult to continue I had all the same issues. I was gonna keep going but after reading this umm yeah I don't think I will continue!"

well my advice always is if you don't like the first half you'd probably hate the second so it's not worth it wasting your time.

message 42: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Johnson I’m gonna go read this book now.

Edit: I LOVED IT
I love me some Mako. Morally Grey men >>> oof 🥵
Sane= boringggg. Yeah I’m probably unhinged. Oh well.
I truly enjoy reading silly reviews like this helps me go read the book. So thanks!

message 43: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Krips This was a trauma dump for the author, the highly graphic details of the violence, etc. Just proved there is no way she could not have gone thru some of this to write it... it definitely is not everyone's cup of tea... i enjoyed it as a domestic violence survivor. I related to River, the going back and taking the crap, and leaving and coming back.. I liked seeing her grow and gain strength... I feel like you have to throw in a little craziness to even out the authors heaviness, I'm sure her wanting to get some stuff out was difficult for sure. But I can definitely see how it's not everyone's preference for sure. I read your review, and it was very thorough and still took a chance.. I am so glad I did. The thing I love about books is we can all have differences of opinions, genres, and theories, but we can all come back to the love of reading! Thanks for your review!

Thank you! that's why i love reading and writing reviews. everyone has different opinions. i'm glad you still took a chance and loved this book. 😊

Jana 🇵🇸 This review is so real 😭
the resolution of the story was so baddd, I had hopes for a good survival and healing story for River but everything that happened in the second part of the book felt like I went from reading a story portraying the reality of what it’s like to be in a relationship with a narcissistic and abusive partner to a trashy horror movie plot. Ryan’s conclusion was not satisfying tbh it was just too brutal and unrealistic, and all the “plot twists” were making the story cornier 💀

message 47: by Anna (new)

Anna Mariie This is what happens in dv relationships, sorry that it’s “annoying” to you, but people that have been through it will resonate completely.

the premise of the book was good but the execution fell flat. i agree the second part was just so many plot twists for the sake of shock value which made this book so cringyyy 😭😭

Natasha Anna wrote: "This is what happens in dv relationships, sorry that it’s “annoying” to you, but people that have been through it will resonate completely."

girl my review had nothing to do with the actual dv relationship, more with how unbelievably cringy and bad written this book was but okay.😭

message 50: by Anita (new)

Anita Hickman FYI. Just because one person has a bad experience with a book or all the books, WHY do you keep reading them and giving bad reviews. You can give CONSTRUCTIVE REVIEWS, but downright hateful come one. I have DNF'd books books before as well. TALK TO THE AUTHOR FIRST before you decide to be hateful.
