Fran, I do think most authors are grateful that others are interested in what they have written. Happy New Year to you!
As an author myself, I can say: You're right, and thank you! I'm grateful if people are interested in what I've written, no matter in what form they discover it (printed, ebook, audiobook, cover blurb...)
