I haven't read the book but was surprised to learn a year ago from a friend that there's a 1995 Mexican film starring Salma Hayek, set in Mexico City. I found the film via the Kanopy service and watched it. I liked it, though it was a bit melodramatic. I thought about reading the book but have yet to get around to it.
