Kathleen This sounds wonderful, Diane. I love a good "book vacation!"

message 2: by John’aLee (new)

John’aLee Wonderful review Diane! I just started this book a few days ago and am loving the immersive world.

message 3: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes Book vacations are the longer books that take me away for a while Kathleen.

message 4: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes I'm sure you'll love the ending as much as I did, John'alee.

message 5: by Ann (new)

Ann Diane - it's just sooooo good! And a perfect December read. I'm so glad you loved it.

message 6: by Canadian Jen (new)

Canadian Jen Lovely review, Diane. I haven't read Pilcher in a very long time!

message 7: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes Ann, how could I not love it. It had everything!

message 8: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes Jen, you need to give her another try. Not sure if it's my age or the times we're living in now, but she's just what I need for a worthwhile escape.

message 9: by Candi (new)

Candi This sounds like a cozy yet deeply gratifying reading experience! I love Pilcher, so this one will come up for me eventually :) Lovely review, Diane.

message 10: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes Easy to get lost in Candi, when you need that kind of book.

message 11: by Julie (new)

Julie G Diane,
You are so right; the house is a character, too! I am thrilled that you went on vacation with this story. I'm wondering if it may become a Christmas tradition for me. I miss all of the people in that house!
xoxo

message 12: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes To use an old-fashioned word Julie, I am bereft in their absence.

message 13: by Julie (new)

Julie G Diane,
That is exactly how I felt.
Interestingly, I felt a deeper connection with the characters of SOLSTICE, but I felt a deeper connection to the story of SEPTEMBER. You don't doubt these characters for a minute, do you? I wouldn't be surprised if any of them moved in next door to me. As real as the strangers I'm looking at, right now, on the beach! More real to me, actually, because I "know" their stories.

message 14: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes She gives you the backstory of everyone in Solstice, so you know their motives. Does she do that in September?

message 15: by Jim (new)

Jim Puskas Diane, I really cannot face another 500-page book right now, being up to my ears in Simone Weil and the Iliad, but this looks too good to pass up. Perhaps much later this year ...

message 16: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes No timeline on good books Jim. Whenever the mood strikes.

message 17: by Julie (new)

Julie G Yes! I found SEPTEMBER to be edgier, though, and I mean that in a good way.

message 18: by Jeannie (new)

Jeannie Nice review, Diane. I just finished this and didn't want it to end.

message 19: by Diane (new)

Diane Barnes I'm with you Jeannie, I wish there were a sequel.

message 20: by Antoinette (new)

Antoinette I loved this book as well, Diane and I too read it at this time of the year. It’s been amazing to see the resurfacing of Pilcher’s books. Her books are great to get lost in and with the way things are in the real world, her books are a perfect distraction.

message 21: by Julie (new)

Julie G I consider SEPTEMBER a sequel, of sorts, to this novel.
